Facts That Everyone Gets Wrong About Vaping

Let’s start from the basic question, ‘What is vaping?’ Well, vaping is defined as the act of inhaling vapor that is produced by an electronic cigarette or a vaporizer.  The inhaled vapor is produced from materials like e-liquid, dry herb, or concentrate. Vaping is one the fastest growing industries in today’s world. It is especially popular for being a healthier and better alternative for typical cigarettes. 21% of the total smokers in the United States do vaping along with orthodox smoking.

In spite of its benefits and countless studies which have been done on what is vaping and the effects of vaping, majority of the people are of the view that vaping is hazardous for health.  There are a number of myths surrounding vaping which need to be busted. Here you go with 5 facts about vaping, which everybody keeps on getting wrong.

Vaping does not cause cancer

Regular cigarettes have a cancer-causing agent, tar. Tar constitutes of more than 70 carcinogens and is produced when the tobacco in cigarettes is burnt. E-cigs, on the other hand, do not have any tar in their vapor. They only have a regulated amount of nicotine which does not cause any harm to its users. Henceforth, vaping can never cause cancer in its users and is not harmful to the body.

Vaping does not stiffen arteries

A research conducted by Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center, Greece in 2013 concluded the effects of both e-cigs and tobacco cigarettes on arteries. According to the research, while tobacco cigarettes result in the stiffening of arteries, e-cigs do not leave any negative impact on the arteries.

What is vaping

E-liquids do not have mysterious ingredients

Most of the critics of vaping argue that e-liquids have ‘unknown’ chemicals which are dangerous for health. The reality could not be far from this. An e-liquid constitutes of four ingredients; vegetable glycerin, propylene glycol, food-grade flavoring and pharmaceutical-grade nicotine. Vegetable glycerin produces vapor. Propylene glycol can also be found in asthma inhalers and is added to antifreeze and to retain the flavor. Food-grade flavoring can be either natural or artificial, and has a lot of variations.

Passive vaping is not dangerous

One of the worst things about tobacco cigarettes is that it is not merely harmful to the smoker but also to the people around him. The same problem of traditional smoking is often linked with vaping too. Fortunately, this is entirely false. As the vapors do not pose any danger to the vaper himself, vaping do not have any negative impacts on the people around a vaper.

Vaping does not encourage smoking

Another concern voiced by vaping critics is that vaping encourages non-smokers to smoke and thereof is increasing smoking in the world. But the truth is that vaping helps smokers in quitting smoking in a healthy manner. By switching to vaping, they stop inhaling tar and thus their chances of getting cancer and such diseases are decreased significantly.

The next time someone asks you, ‘What is vaping?’ or argues about the effects of vaping, you can easily explain to them how vaping is nothing like smoking tobacco cigarettes
